If your then only one that is going to drive it why make it adjustable, it stop the misses asking if she can have a go ;)

No adjustment. I spent a long time getting the seats in the right position, the backs will be bolted to the roll bar so they will be very stable, mounts welded to the floor and all bolts are titanium. With the mounts the seats weigh 10lb a side, I'm happy with that. I've had new vinyl covers made in the original Solar style which will add a little more.

Blue, thematically how will this car be different than Detroit Hustle engine/trans aside?
Just wondering what the long term difference will be and what your overall plan is?

Miles this is another nostalgia build based around the modified production /street racer cars of the early '70's. I will use more original speed parts this time around and it should be a good bit lighter than the Dart. Not sure yet if this one will get race car paint, that's a long way off yet. So, not that different in some respects.

Sounds good, Blue, be nice to see it in the flesh next year :thumbright:
I personally prefer these period recreations rather than big money restos. Somehow seems more in keeping with the grass roots tradition.

Have looked into this & it appears that common sense prevails, if the seat is adjustable it must function as such & lock in position, if it has no provision for adjustment then it must be securely mounted.
Quoted from the MOT manual; Original Design characteristics and specialised modifications (e.g. to enable wheelchair access) are to be accepted.
You can't have too much power, only a lack of traction!

Reading the manual

Method of inspection :- Check that the driver’s seat position can be
adjusted forwards and backwards and secured
in the selected positions.

Reason for Rejection:- The driver’s seat fore and aft adjustment
mechanism not functioning as intended.

I think this only applies if a mechanism for adjustment is fitted as far as I am aware from when I used to test vehicles (admittedly a few years ago) as a lot of kit cars did not use to have adjuster built into them just seat cushions fitted into molded sections in the floor pan. But I will stand corrected if wrong..

No problem at MOT test.

"The driver’s seat fore and aft adjustment mechanism not functioning as intended"

Is the failure. If no mechanism is fitted it can't not function as intended.

Started making a tray to hold the coil, ECU, fusebox and any other electrical gubbins I need. It hinges up and will be secured by dzus fasteners to the bottom edge of the dash to keep everything out of sight.
