I don't think they can be Guy. Like I say, they are different in that one has four holes that line up perfectly with the one side, the other only has three holes that line up with the 3 holes in the block.
I've still got the remaining brackets in the garage, so I'll go and snap those shortly and post up the pics, see if it sheds any light.
Jeff, if Joe has any info or photo's, that would be great.
Pete... You mean we can't just throw it all in and see what happens?

Cheers Anton.
Having decided that this issue could be dealt with relatively easily at a later date, we decided to nip these up and move on to avoid completely losing all our lift time.
So the engine was essentially in, it was on to the gearbox. First job, getting all the little ancillery parts of the old box and transfering them onto the new one. That MUST be a straightforward quick job, surely...

Can't post a pic, but I had a quick shufty in my small block book, the drivers side mount is a mirror image of the one you have on the pass. side. You just need the right bracket, might have one, I'll have a look next time I'm in the shop.

That would be great John, Cheers! The more bases covered the better. Be good to see an example on exactly the same car.
Won't hurt if it's the weekend as we've moved on from there to do it at a later date. S'pose I should carry on with the update really and get to the next problem... Blue'll be itching to see these photo's as he knows the issue, but hasn't seen it yet.

Whilst awaiting photo's and advice on mounts then, back to the weekends activities!
So there we were then, transferring all the fiddly bits off the old gearbox onto the new, when all of a sudden it was a complete pain in the arse, took bloody ages and it ended up being night time. Bugger.
Oh well, there's beer to be drunk it's Saturday night and I'm sure Sunday will be a better day, we thinks....
Yeah right.
Up and at 'Em 8.30am start on Sunday and it felt good to be greeted by this sight for a change. At least we'd got this far on Saturday! At long last it had a V8 in it. Well, almost a whole one.

First job then, finished swapping gearbox bits and set about positioning for the big lift up to connect to the block. Just then, my wife turned up with fresh sausage and bacon butties for us, which cheered the whole mood up even more and set us up for the lift.
15 minutes wrestling with the torque convertor to get it to engage properly and it was time to realise that the flex plate had gone missing.
Back in the van and home again, turn the garage upside down, there it was. The old /6 flex plate hiding in the box of old bits for scrapping! Close call, but another half an hour lost.
Back to the workshops and offer the plate up... Hang on a minute... it doesn't line up!? Eh?
Rotating the plate through 360* there were only 5 holes that would line up.
