ive managed to get hold of a set of 68 mustang wheels (bit ropey in places) with unilug fitment, however the wheels studs only just protrud through the mounting area on the wheel not leaving enough studding to get the wheel nuts on properly, can i get longer studs for my wheels? if so where from and how much, will probably need to be at least an inch & a half long, on the nut it says - 1/2 R H/T,
bit of a pain as ive just forked out for new tyres on them and would be a lot better than the tyres ive got

any help on this would be much appreciated as im itching to drive the aspen again

They probably won't come through very far.You have got unilug sleeve nuts and washers ?

they did come with some washers 6, oval in shape with a hole at one end the guy said thats all he had and you just turn them round to suit the pcd, ive got a local engineering company to knock me up a full set of 20,
i looked at those nuts earlier today i dont think that there is enough gap between the thread & the locating hole on the wheel - there is only about 1mm maybe 2 clearence, to get them on enough, had a similar problem in the 80's with a mini when i wanted to fit some wide alloys, same problem not enough stud for the nut to bite on, i popped into a local car parts shop (not there now) and bought longer studs

As Latil said you have to use the right sleeve nuts to suit the wheel. Don't use normal nuts and longer studs

Pics make it esier to see but you need to find sleeve nuts with a small dia on the shank or open up the hole in the washer . Are they ally or steel wheels ? And were they original unilug or has someone modded them ?

pretty certain they are original - unless the bloke i got them off was very good with a mill, i ve got 5 original unilug washers and they fit in the slots a treat, im sure mr t will have a set that will do the job

You have the wrong wheel nuts. Wheels that use those oval washers need a nut that has a conical seat like the ones you have, but with a straight section beyond that that goes down into the wheel to get onto the studs. If mister Tee can't help, you will find them on ebay usually listed as ET wheel nuts. You never have to fit longer wheel studs to American cars just to get the wheels to fit, there is always a nut and washer combo to get the job done.

cheers so am i! - it hasnt been good having the dodge sat there and not being able to drive it, i could have put new tyres on the existing wheels but there're a bit rusty and need sorting out
