Help Needed

I'm thinking of painting my 340 Duster.
Ideally bare metal respray with a little bodywork.
I've had a couple of quotes which vary.
I would be interested to know of anyone's own experiences, recommendations and ideas of expected cost's.
All I want is a reasonably priced, professional job.

Mitch, do you want the engine bay, bonnet. boot and all the door jams stripped and painted too?

If so, that's a lot of hours for a pro painter. Check back through the bodywork posts and I seem to remember I broke down the costs, if not, let me know and I'll work it out again!

Hi Mitch,

Biggles has got a new Spraybooth now up and running on the Isle of Sheppey in Kent!
He is a Porshe approved car painter and loves Mopars!!!
I'm sure he will give you a keen price and more importantly a top job for the money you wanna spend.

Phone him on 07817 300791.

I would think 3grand is gonna be a starting price, another grand for strippng and metalwork.

Best of luck Baccy.

A full strip (all glass out) bare metal prep/paint and refit your talking in the £6k region. More if rot/rust has to be dealt with  ;)

Youre talking of at least a £1k for materials on a b-bod :(

Think Baccys gonna have second thoughts & stick another grand on that.

:D

Good fair price Baccy.

I reckon Mal is closest to the reslistic price. But that wont inlcude panels, or all the nice new shiny bits you buy so you dont have to put all that old poop on the lovely new ly painted car.

Decent work isnt cheap. :thumbright:

I found my original post:

The industry standard for a complete respray in the original colour (so that inside the bonnet, boot etc. doesn't need to be stripped and repainted) is 80 hours, which at say 40 quid an hour is well over three large.

To change the colour, strip and repaint the engine bay, the inside of the bonnet and in the boot and Budgie's right on the money.

As usual. ;)

Although were dealing with a lot bigger type of vehicle the 80 quoted hrs is something we used to quote for a body shell along with the labour rate Round here most Approved Bodyshops are charging between £28.00 and £35.00 an hr and even that can be negotiated down.
As for strip & fit surely that can be done by yourself.
All helps keep the price down.
But as usual a quick check of the bodyshop refs and word of mouth before going any further.

Hi Folks, "Overhaulin" time

Whose seen the Chip Foose doin a 69 Runner HEMI convertible clone?

A complete restified car in a weeeek!!!

Even I gotta take my hat of to those guys.

Did a real 69 Hemi Gtx Convertible in California in May this year. It was so bad me and my Moparmate spent 4 weeks non stop on metalwok alone! Thats 16,000dollars just on hours!!!!!! Plus 4000dollars on parts.
Paint is another 10,000dollars.

Food for thought eh Guys and Gals.

Baccy.

yea the previous owner of the scamp had a quote for about 6/7k, which i didnt thinck was too bad, considerings it needs the window resese's front and rear welding up.

we did a scooby at work last monthe complete respray (not bare metal)all the panel had dings that was 4k.

also with the bare metal respays on the older cars there will always be somthing there under the paint.
