when I was better off, and married (as the York photos are of 'her' racing the cars).

GN from 1990, not long after I had bought it.

GS from 1991 when the car was very disappointing. Classic case of thinking your car is awesome quick for 100 yards away from the lights on the street, and then falling flat on its arse on the track. I think the fuel pump would not keep up with the carb as it would die just before shifting, lift off, shift up, back on, then die again.

Very embarrassing.

But I had bought this '67 LeMans that had a 455 Buick engine in it.

Pulled the engine and rebuilt it back in 1989.

So after the disaster in August, we pulled the stored, rebuilt engine off its engine stand, took a week off work, pulled the front end off the GS, cleaned, painted, tidied, stuck the new engine in ....

And went back down to York ... where they promptly refused to let us race the car because it was a convertible.

Just two months after they had happily let us run before.
