The cure?

A simple block between the scatter-shield and the pivot to stop it flexing every time one had the audacity to press the clutch pedal.

The MMA committee decided that the 2003 "NEC Classic and Sports car" show display would have a “racing” theme.

The problem was that space on the stand that year was limited, so only 2 cars would be permitted.

Some bright spark suggested the two "Sox & Martin cars" would be a giggle, and like mugs we agreed.

What a rotten drive up there…..
Damp, raining, fog, no heater, no blower fan, no traction.

The things I do for the MMA….

Dean Inskip got the stand all organised as ever, with the usual battles with the officious “you can’t park there, matey!” burkes in uniforms.

Despite this, the usual and perennial failures to get the power laid on to the stand and the other usual quibbles, all went well for the staging.

The really cool bit was that the MMA stand was next to the “Classic American” stand, which had a 6 foot high poster of Carl posing next to his Belvedere! How’s that for free advertising??

I bet the third shot gets you attention

Those observant people who could tear themselves away from looking at the charming young lady, will have noticed a bucket placed strategically under my car.

It is not there by accident...............

Stand by for Rule 4.................

I don't pop by very often these days but I would like to say thanks to Pete for giving me the chance to work with him on his cars, not many can say they have had the chance to work on T/A's, AAR's. 6BBL Road Runners, Superbirds and Daytona's!

For a true petrolhead, Pete made dreams come true, the best was the car of the show award at the NEC with the Petty Bird, we deserved that one!

Thanks mate and keep up the good story about the Sox, and as for the Nats, I still remember the funny looks I got sitting outside the blokes bogs as you spent time praying to the bog gods !! good job we had the transit for you to kip in huh !

Good times I will never forget, thanks mate.

See you soon

Ladies and Gentlemen;
I give you “Rule 4”:

“Never use the top of your air cleaner as a workbench”.

Well, I know it SOUNDS obvious, but if you are in a bit of a rush and are at the NEC with no “workmate” or equivalent, and you have never had an issue before, then it does seem a bit tempting……

Because the motor had a solid cam and was still settling down; I made a point of checking and adjusting the lash on the stand once we had staged everything.

Well, what could go wrong………….

Why does Bananarama! happen in slow motion?
Why can you never galvanise yourself to respond with rapid reflexes?
Do you think you can change physics by the power of thought?
