Ex mid 70s Super Saloon Racer. Built and raced by John Pope.
Regularly raced against Gerry Marshall, Dave Brodie, Tony Strawson, etc.

Spec. 73 Vauxhall Magnum powered by Aston Martin V8 with Twin Turbo's on Bosch fuel injection @ 900hp.
Proved very reliable with many wins and usually finished in top five.
Always driven to the events and back home again!!!

What a beast!......... I actually remember watching it race and win at Lydden in 75.

Lets hope the whispers are true and Super Saloon racing is coming back!

What a machine! I remember reading somewhere that apparently John Pope fitted a radio in the car for the journeys to and from the racetrack!

No Andy, he wanted 25 clap for it, spose it's worth it in some respects with al it's provenance etc etc and it must have cost a mint to build as well. Be real different to but not for me at that money I'm affraid.

Got trotted to 14 clap ( no bids ) ..........would have paid 10 clap for it I spose :?

Anyway, me and John Smirthwaite are probably gonna build a Pantera for the pre 74 class.

25 large !!! he havin a laugh, I think your 10 sound's enough

There would be quite a few eligibity proplems running that car, mal:
1. Most championships require you to run an engine made by the same manu. as the car ie ford motor in a ford chassis
2. I guess the motor is 5ltr+ so normal min wieght for this will be 1200+ kilos & I bet that doest even tip 1100 & there is some extra weight penaulty for turbos & that providing the car isnt space framed as thats another story again
