New Pre 72 American drag class - it's right up our street!

Pete Walton gave me a shout the other night, he also spoke to Dave Billydoo and he thought it was a great idea...a new race class for next year's Dragstalgia event at Santa Pod.

Basically it is designed for all pre 1972 American bodied cars and the rules are in my view absolutely spot on for a bit of nostalgia drag racing and so far they go something like this:

Pre 1972 American body
Stock rear springs
Bolt on traction adders are acceptable, Caltracs, slapper bars etc.
You can inboard your springs
Engine as big as you like!
No power adders just carbs Idunno about injection at the moment!)
Tyres - as big as you can get under the body
Interior any way you fancy
I have no details on safety equipment, like belts and roll bars, but perhaps Pete will clue me in when he's ready.

Class will be run as a heads up, three qualies then run as a pro field.

So what do you think? Any takers?

Obviously we need a few cars to make this work so if you could be interested lets get a list together here and I'll ask Pete to start collating and contacting those interested.

Pete also says that he's seriously considering putting his hand into his pocket for some prize money! :trophy:

Why not just use the rules for our very own Nostalgia Pro Stock? That was set up to achieve the same thing. I always thought it could be expanded at some point to run at other events like the gasser circus is.

nothing wrong with stock rear springs.. :) :) make peeps work a bit harder to get off the line well...and tuning will become paramount again. Good idea!

That's ok Les, keep it with my compliments!

I took that on 9th June '85 at Gary's Picnic. That was the weekend we bought the Satellite so was our first weekend at the Pod with the car.

I seem to remember taking that print and another that I thought you'd like to a pub in Edmonton for one of the 'local' (well, local to you) meets, so you could get copies made, but I never did see them again...

Dont worry, you can keep it now
