NATS 2012 review.

Post by MattH »

Looks like I'm first back.
Great weekend despite the working in between.
Good to see the regulars and put faces to names and have a chat.
Don't know who the winners were but Rogers Charger SE was stunning, Mickeys Aussie Charger Sportsman a real beaut, Tom's red 68 Charger a real nice peice of work.

Got some bits for the Chally - Thanks Duncan! :thumbright:

Mandie now NEEDS a Furious Fuchsia Challenger (new shape).

Top Fuel car - never seen one run, so most impressive, and painfully loud.

Must plan better for next year and get the whole weekend off.

Only down side apart from having to go to work?
Fairground in the middle of the show and shine. That was a right pain. Can it be removed for next year?

Jim, when will next year be?? I have assumed the same weekend and booked it already, so confirmation of the date would be great, it is the 20th event after all.
I even have £5 bet on my Chally being there, It was there for the 1st Nats, never since!

Well done to all the organisers and everyone taking part for a great weekend.

Thank you all.

Yep, enjoyed myself on Sat, put some faces to names I got to know on here......thanks Blue for pointing the peeps out to me and introducing me.

some quick cars there...never got to see Mick run cos his starter motor gave up again but had a long chat....nice guy.

The Lucas Oils Top Fuel car was awesome with a 4.41 and a piston blowing 254mph....20yrs since I saw the last one run when they were running 5.2's.

Santa Pod dissapointing again in that they let at least 4 cars run in the left lane which were all over the place at about mid-track before they sprayed it, that was dangerous and very unprofessional.

A good day out though.

It's a great credit to all involved in organising it.
Thankyou to everyone who complimented me on the dart,
Well chuffed.
Managed to get down to 14.1 which was 1/2 a second better than last year.
made the last 7 weeks work worth it,
Cheers everyone !

Dave, I didn't manage to catch you but your Dart looked great, possibly my favourite A body of the weekend. I also really liked the 12 second sunburnt blue '68 Dart with the 360 in it, a real low buck terror. Had a really good weekend, it was great to hang out with friends old and new, Autofetish, if you're reading this, get some bloody sleep! I got there 8pm Thursday night, I can highly recommend the gate party :thumbright:

brilliant weekend, did 600+ miles in total without a hitch and even ran a couple of 13s reaching 108mph despite a 60' that was so slow that I could have walked the dog!
Great beers on both nights and nice to catch up with a bunch of folks including Ade, Justin, Simon, Fingers, Sam, EnglishPolara chappy and a bunch of the usual suspects.
Great event, great people, worth every penny. Thanks to all involved.
Ps
I liked Karma Heart, dodgy PA, but cracking set :thumbright:
PPS
That top fuel car damn nearly stopped my heart. Thundertastic

Was a cracking Saturday for me!

Nice to finally meet some of the guys on here and talk cars in person! :thumbright:

Some truly stunning machinery on show. A lot more A bodies than i remember from last year. :D

Had a good chat to a few guys with Mopars, and found it quite interesting that they either had nothing to do with the MMA or hadn't been a member for years??

Thanks to the chaps that brought parts for me, and a special thanks to Chris 'Birdman' for tracking down some stuff after i'd had to leave! :thumbright:
Dave Tildesley.....MMA-081
72 Dodge Dart
73 Plymouth Duster - SOLD

I wanna go so FAST i think i'm going to DIE!..........Then i'll shift into second!

Completley knackered. Started to drive home , hadn't even got out of the Pod & right when it was pi**ing down the drivers wiper arm fell off  . Drove the next 2 hrs in heavy rain in the middle lane following the lights of the car in front :help: got onto the m56 for the last 1.5 hrs of the trip & the sun came back out :thumbright: . Still the best gig of the year. Will post again after I've had a kip.
