Hi Neil,
Thanks for the link.

But, already too far down the road with parts to suit the 318/390.
That plus I've always wanted to try pushing the base 318 so it embarrasses the big block guys. :angel12:

yep, there's a lot of guys on the 'for a bodies only' forum that i see you're also on that swear by them. seems a no brainer to me when 360 blocks are so dear. that saving alone gives you a big chunk of the stroker cost so why not. after all at stock bore it's only 90 thou difference 318 to 360.
neil.

Yeah posted on FABO just to see opinions on the build.
As always everybody has one, so trying to sort through the crap to find the good feedback.
Interesting one is that apparently i need 4.10s and a 5000 stall from it..........Think i will speak to a converter company as it would be nice if it drives on the street under part throttle at less than 3000rpm doing 50.

That's down the line though!

Converter needs to match your cam choice and you won’t be choosing one that needs 5000 stall speed unless you’re going radical…

yeah a lot of those guys assume you're building a dedicated drag car it seems, or at least that's how they would steer you. we're all different though and want different things from our cars so build it how you want it mate. :thumbright:

I'd be using a 35-3600 converter with that.

oh similar to to mine

109 LSA

248/252 at 0.050
284/289 adv.

centre line 106

this was no.2 in a list of 6 performance grind solid flat tappet cams for my hemi 6 getting more extreme as the numbers went up . grinder inisted that a considerable CR hike from standard 8-9:1 , webers and 3.5:1 gears were the way . shifted the power and torque up the rpm range 2700+ it was marketed as a street/strip cam

thIs grind was no.4 in the list for v8 if applied to a V8 cam shaft

why 1 grind should be considred a little more fruity across two engines i never worked out.. potentially CC/cylinder or due to rocker ratio (1.72:1 standard for me) and intalled height. dunno. i do have an engine where it would be extremely hard to get a valve to hit a piston......maybe thats it, no piston crown-valve clerance work necessary to fit???.

dynamic CR is key....

Thanks chaps.
I was thinking Hughes 3000 or 3500, so the numbers you suggest Blue are where I expected it to be. :thumbright:

Dynamic CR is around 8.2:1 by online calculation Dave, with the above cam.

Still waiting for parts from the states. This could be a long term engine build.

So decided to take it out for a quick trip down to Ludlow to get some V8 goodness. Usual thing is to hold it on the starter for 10 seconds to get a bit of oil circulated. It kicked once and died. Tried the key again and nothing. Opened door and noted interior light was no longer on.

So guessed it was the fuse not the 6 month old battery.
Got rid of the old fusible link when wiring 6 years ago and replaced it with a blade fuse. Took off the protective cover and found this......

Think that's a long term heat buildup, not a freak from today, its just finally blown. The fact it melted into the holder is a bit concerning.
Couldn't find my spare fuse holder, so online shopping for tomorrow delivery. I will drop the new one in with another 25A fuse and keep an eye on it. Need to check my AA cover and fire extinguisher is still good.

Agree, I’d at least use a midi fuse for that kind of job.
