I would put the bad handling down to the rear end being too high and the lack of support on the front shock towers.
My car has ran a 1.39 on SS springs.
Happy new year Pete.

SS springs will run the numbers as will c-tracs/mono's or Ladder bars on a stock chassis car, SS springs may not be quite so consistent as the former two though and of course weigh more, its dependent on how good you are at setting your car up with them.

Ladders and Tracs are the same in performance and easier to set up and will eradicate probs you may be having in getting the SS springs to work their best....its an easy way out to a consistent car, and for most racers, thats what matters...thats why everyone loves them and say they are faster than SS springs where in reality they just haven't sorted the SS package out properly.

You need to check where the SS springs are manufactured and avoid the Mexican version. I had a brand new spring completely fail on launch (after two runs) which got my full attention.

Split leaf mono's are the way to go.

Yeah, the mexican ones are useless. SS springs aren't as consistent as caltracs but i would choose ladder bars over caltracs.
