Exhaust hitting everything

Post by autofetish »

Been full of ask posts at the monent apologies

My drivers NSF header Bananarama! steering box , starter , and torsion bar.

It's a little more than just because of the wrap

Options ?

Hit with hammer make fit engine in out in out shake it all about

buy new headers that fit

Leave them to bed in will be fine ??

Rubber mounts with a engine steady mount to rail to stop engine twist

Thoughts gents ?

Hammer-time - check it out!!!

Now you know why people spend £900 on TTI's....

You would LOVE working on an "A" Body, you have been spoilt

In which case this is not a Bbody header as I will have to really smash them up.

So it a wrong header or it is just terrible fitment quality ?

It's common to come across these problems when making and adding changes you kind of have to adapt to what ever you use.... I know one thing I'm well impressed by the job you made of the heat wrap around your headers you can come and do mine anytime :thumbright:

Did you not have a trial fitting before you put the stockings and suspenders on the pipes?

I once bought a set of new headers for an "E" Body and Blue ended up cutting and shutting a couple of pipes to get them to fit around the steering box.......that's how bad fit quality can be.....

how can these company making these parts not try the Bananarama! things to see if they fit.

INDY and HOOKER headers can go and Bananarama! Bananarama! Bananarama!

Funnily enough, mine was a set of Hookers on the "E" body - they were really tinny Bananarama!

We had to belt the ever-loving crap out of the Hemi Headers in the "A" body, but this was because the heads were raised port design and no manufacturer makes Hemi headers for Stage V heads

Problem you have is usually they are not model specific.

A lot of A body headers will fit, Darts, Demons, Dusters, Scamps, Valiants from PS to non PS, 904 or 727, PB or manual.

I have seen BB Mopar headers stating the whole B body platform for a 2-3 year period.

Only ones worth buying are Dougs or TTI's with the latter being more £££.

I've also seen that Hookers/Headmans drop real low.....A lot of guys end up with pancaked collecotrs on FABO........ :help:

I have 2 sets of TTI,S and they too had to be beat in someplace or somewhere and the wrap is just a tad thicker as their tolerances are very close especially along the torsion bars, if you removed the wrap they will be very close but not touch .....until you lean on the throttle.

So yes you might have to remove some of the wrap and use a BFH .

I might in the future consider going with a borgesun steering box, it has a ton more room , my challenger as the engine torques up the header hits the steering box and now has a nice dent in it
