Car is back home now after about 6 months, thanks to Mick with the Dart for dragging it back home for me; good to have it back here.

Time to crack on with the wiring and continue the MOT prep. I've bought a new 750DP Holley and the car is now running okay again, needs some slight tuning. MOT in the next week or so I'd expect.

Passed its MOT today.

Ready for the winter now :D. Slight bogging on the new carb but getting there with that, certainly better than the old one with a hole in it!

Still fighting running issues, I decided to throw the old ignition system in the bin and fitted a new MSD 6AL-2, dizzy and coil. With a set for spark plug wires.

Also replaced the bulkhead connector, which was melted and shot. removed the wiring ballast and bypassed the Amp meter gauge.

Been busy few days, the engine bay is still a mess but 30 minutes before I had to dash out for a meal I checked everything and the car fired up well. Sounds the best it ever has, ultra responsive and 'feels' like it has 100 HP more.

Will take it out for a spin tomorrow after getting the timing light on it.

Thanks Guy.

Went out today...

Took it out for a spin today after setting the timing by ear (I'll do another post on that, I don't think the original marks on the damper are correct, though I had checked and set TDC). Revs clean, revs strong, no misses, no bogs, no spitting, no backfire, no flames, no smoke.

Still spins the wheels in 2nd with the 3.55 gears.

I'm happy now, I've lobbed it back in the garage now ready for winter. :D

Thanks to Blue for suggesting the wiring bits I need to freshen up the loom - that has helped loads. Cheers for taking the time to go through that with me. And thanks to Dave999 for talking me out of rewiring the entire car. Cheers guys

Wiring 90% done now, need to lob the seat back in but went out for a good spin today.

Playing around with the 1-2-3 on the shifter, I kind of close my eyes and hope I'm selecting drive after playing around though...

Next I am fitting the 2step limiter via a micro switch to the gear shifter, going to set it so that in 1st manual, it engages with the foot brake.

The car seems to hold at about 2krpm but I can play with that number when it is all wired up.

The MSD kit is mega, I love it. I might buy one for the escort now also.

Got the fuel gauge working as well today but lost the headlights (probably some half arsed wiring the previous owner has done on the car in the area I've not yet looked at).
