Andy's 73 Barracuda

Post by SOMtastic »

Hello every one.

I posted on here back in February – just after I’d parted with some dosh for a 1973 Plymouth Barracuda – which was for sale in … Des Moines – Iowa.
The pictures looked great – but I didn’t actually go and see it – decided to take a complete punt and hope the vendor was honest !

Well - after nearly 5 months of nervous doubt and countless delays and hold ups – it’s finally here, done and dusted with the DVLA, and in my garage. The relief is palpable.
I don’t think I have ever had such exciting post... getting the V5 with the new Reg.
Got the train down to Milton Keynes last weekend to collect .. and had another uncontrollable fit of excitement when I saw it for the first time… and then heard it for the first time.
It was almost too much to bear !!
I’ve been grinning from ear to ear since.

There is one problem – the battery doesn’t want to charge .. so it needed three jump starts to get it up to Yorkshire. Plenty of knowledge on here , so I’ve got a few pointers of what to check.
Apart from that all seems well . There’s a few bits that don’t work , but it’s minor stuff.
I am - as they say – happy as a sand boy javascript:emoticon(':D')

Yes and that looks a real nice car.......I can remember when I picked up my '71 Cuda 340 4spd from Kent many moons ago, and the excitment it gives you when your finally road legal and about to take it for its first blast.

All the best with it....Happy Days :D

Cheers. Yes – it’s very tidy indeed ... better than I’d hoped.
The attention I got on the way home was amazing.
Like you say – happy days !

Welcome!

There is a great technical library here with practical experience and a useful "Search" facility to help you to navigate to the information you require.

I look forward to seeing you and the car at the shows / Drag meets.

Yep – planning on getting to the Hollowtree meet once I get the charging issue sorted… not too far.
Didn’t know there was a Leeds meet though .. or a Preston one. Awesome.
Nats ticket also sorted :)

“Body coloured dog dish” wheels was on my list of “desirable” features… among many.
The car put a tick in pretty much every box I had really .. Which were :

“Body coloured dog dish” wheels – tick.
Exhaust through rear valance – tick.
Cream interior – tick
Round rear lights – tick
Auto – tick
340 or larger – tick

Not had chance to take many picks my self – but here’s a few taken from the web :

Welcome and what a nice car and another 340 in the ranks (keep my eye on that)

Yes as said great tech section but don't you think you have taken it a bit far for a charging problem? And you've only had it 5 minutes.
