David Bowie RIP

Post by Pete »

Another music legend is dead.

I was a massive fan in the early '70's; and I am sure he influenced so many artists.

Another casualty of that Bananarama! cancer at 69.

Somewhat ironic that Lemmy made it to 70 with all his excesses.

Make the most of the time you have left, its less than you think.

RIP Thin white Duke.

I had the same thought ref Lemmy. And at the time of writing Keith Richards is still vertical to the best of my knowledge...

Was shocked to hear about Bowie on the news. Dont know why, but I was.

Terrible news. I was a huge fan from the start, bowled over by 'John I'm Only Dancing' as a spotty teen in secondary school and bought everything he did for the next 10 years. Lost interest when he went all experimental but a legend til the end. He was a very heavy smoker so I'm not surprised it was cancer that took him.

Yeah, very shocked / surprised to hear it too; probably 'cos he had a new album released last week, so one would assume all was well. Good that he was working till the end tho.

Bowie was a huge influence on music, movies and the art scene. He started trends and others followed in their droves. For me Hunky Dory is his best album but the Ziggy years will always be special. God rest the Starman the Thin White Duke is no more. Thanks for the pleasure you gave to us all.

Now Bowie, i do know who he is, the older i get the more someone drops dead every other week, bowie was brilliant, to me he will always be the young American, when i left school i lived in a 1 room bedsit my only entertainment was a gm 8 track player out of a 74 olds cutlass, it sat on a very small table with a car battery for power sat under it, the only cartridge i had was the Bowie album featuring that track, the birds were well impressed that i brought back, RIP matey you are out there with many more wonderfull people, oh one last thing great coincidence i walked in to the living room last night and my daughter was watching big brother there was an old blonde on it .. yes Angie Bowie,,

RIP, some real classic music.
69 is not that old these days to die cancer is a horrible way to go as well, makes you take stock of life.

Make the most of the time you have, treat people like you want to be treated.

Was never really a fan but the fact he was something special is beyond doubt. He had more influence on modern music than anyone else I can think of, he will be sadly missed.

I didn't think they played Bowie on "Classic FM", Pete; you learn something every day.
