Chris' 69 Camaro ( yes I know it's a Chevy .... )
Hi, though it was about time I put some pics of my 69 Camaro on here,I've had the car since 1998 , when I first got it the car was pretty much stock with the original 307ci and TH350 trans, I've since had a 406 small block in which ran 12.40's @113mph with a 3.90 gear and for the last 4 or 5 years it's had the big block in it as follows
540 merlin block with world products iron 'Grumpy Jenkins ' heads, comp mechanical roller cam with around .680 lift ( I forget the rest the cams been in the engine for years when I had it in another car) compression ratio is around 9.3-1 , I wanted the compression this low as I like to put regular unleaded in the tank rather than super, early 70's edelbrock C427 intake which is a low rise dominator intake but I have an adaptor to run a regular square bore 1000cfm Holley , the car is very very basic even down to having a mechanical stock looking fuel pump and steel fuel lines, all the suspension is completely stock apart from traction bars as I like 'period parts ' most things on it like the gauges and the valve covers etc are all old school, it has a Th400 with a 3000 stall coan converter and a DANA 60 rear end with 3.54 gears, it runs 10.60's at around 127-129mph on the motor on regular unleaded. The wheels are 15x3.5" Fentons on the front with 215-75-15 pro tracs and 15x8.5" Americans on the back with L60-15 pro tracs. The car still has the factory manual drum brakes all round which work fine although with the pro tracs on the front the steering is more like piloting a small water craft but as I think it looks cool I'm not too bothered

Thanks , it actually has a mopar link as its Viper GTS blue , it was that colour when I got it in '98 but it had white stripes so I had them painted out a few years ago , I probably prefer a more period colour to be honest ( fathom green or rallye green which are both 69 Camaro colours ) but with the price of paint these days it will be staying this colour for the foreseeable future , maybe I'll get it painted when I celebrate 40 years of ownership70_charger wrote:Like the colour fella. Hi guy, yes it's a Norfolk reg. It came over to lakenheath in 1988 and was registered at Norwich , it's on an H rather than a G as they made 69 Camaros into the '70 model year and it's a late build one , the second gen cars came out midway through 70 hence the 70&1/2 designation you sometimes see them refered to as , although strangely I've never seen a 69&1/2 Camaro advertisedguy whitwam wrote:Hi mate
