Importing tips please :-)
So hypothetically, if someone was importing a van from oh I dunno, Albuquerque in January say...
What documentation should the seller have in his possession to prove ownership?
At what point in proceedings would you hand over full payment?
How soon after landing in the UK is it possible to have it legal to drive?
What's the best thing to use to preserve that faded paint and surface rust look, bearing Welsh weather in mind?

I would think that you'd need to make sure the seller had a clear title in his / her possession to prove ownership.
Think that some import companies will accept you paying them the full amount and they then pay the seller ( not 100% certain though )
As soon as the vehicle is MOTd and has English number plates, insurance and tax if applicable, you can drive it on the roads legally.
Once it's delivered to you or, you've collected it, book it in for an MOT, the first one can be done on the chassis or VIN number.
Hope this helps

Should have clear title in there name,
Handing over full payment is the scary bit, I've done it three times and been lucky.
Your sending funds over for a car you've not seen ,to a person you don't know.
You can do your own diy detective work, reverse checking phone and email number's, checking FB profiles etc.
You send funds when you've agreed a price with the seller, then instruct a shipper over here, they then take it from there.
Once it's here, the shipper should have handled all customs and import documentation, you get all this sent to you , you have to send for a import pack from dvla,
Fill that in ,send ,the original title, bill of sale, Nova formand insurance details, it will be insured on its vin the first year.
DVLA issue your new reg and V5, get plates made ,off you go.
From landing in UK to driving ,should be around 2 weeks tops.

Yes get the seller to send you a good copy of the title and a bill of sale, he should keep the originals to give to the shipping co. when they pick it up. Only wire the money into his bank account, if he won't trust you with his details walk away, the whole thing has to be done on trust. Don't whatever you do pay by Western Union, that's just asking for trouble.

Well he was happy to be friends on FB so I reckon that's a good sign.
He's sent loads of photos, answered any questions pretty honestly and he hates Trump
He's a member on VintageVans forum, which is where I found him.
I've had a ball-park shipping figure from Ron, I'll be setting it all up in the next few days hopefully.
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!
