AMERICANA EVENT Sept 2018

Post by Steve »

Hi all,

our club has been approached by the organisers of an American lifestyle themed show that is being hosted at Stanford Hall, near Rugby on 7th to 9th of September 2018.

At the moment, its just in the early planning stages but the basic format is a show with live music stages, bars, memorabilia, displays etc all based around an American theme. We have been asked if we would like a club presence at the show with our cars. There will be some commitment to supporting the weekend but we will get tickets provided etc for those displaying (similar to Sywell Pistons and Props). There will be weekend camping available too, though I imagine this may incur a cost to us.

I don't need definite numbers as its miles away yet but if you feel this is something you would like to be a part of, would you mind just answering this thread please. I will see what our attendance numbers are likely to be and will liaise with the organisers over the next few weeks.

Cheers Steve :thumbright:

Early days Ali but the initial contact states there will be camping facilities. Organised by a London based entertainment sponsor by the looks of it and should be good!

Will update everyone when I get more info

Hi All,

I have received the following email re the Long Road show. It is self explanatory and will guide you through how to get your free tickets if you are displaying a car,

Cheers Steve :thumbright:

Hi Steve,

That’s great news. We've already got a great range of cars signed up from 1950 - 2012 and we're still taking applications.

Below is a link to our facebook post which you may want to share.

Alternatively attached is the image from the post and pasted below are the text details. FYI we are offering 2 x Weekend Camping tickets to the festival, in return for asking you to display the car between 10am and 2pm on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th September in our Fair County show area.

I've also attached an eflyer for the festival.

You’re invited to join the Car Club at The Long Road! We’ll be displaying a range of American Cars and Trucks and we’d love you to get in touch if you have a car you’d like to display*. Simply email us at info@thelongroad.com with the following information if you’re interested and we'll send over more details:
⭐ Name
⭐ Email
⭐ Address
⭐ Phone Number
⭐ Car Model
⭐ Year
⭐ Country of Origin
⭐ 2 Photos of Your Car/Truck
* No fees or costs apply

Look forward to seeing applications from your members.

Hi steve
I was all signed up and ready to go to this event as an exhibiter, but they seem to be imposing new rules on a regular basis , to the point where I don"t think I can make it. Pity, as I was really looking forward to it. If you are at the hot rod drags though, look me up. I"ll be with the HEMI HUNTER team

Hi Dave.... Interesting. Are you able to tell me what changes they are imposing please (via PM if you prefer)?

They were keen to get us on board so hope its not enough to stop members wanting to go.

Hi Steve
This in the last week. Exhibiters to enter at festival car park, swap passes for wrist band(s), go to camp site and set up. OK so far. Then take your car out of site and go to car and bike show car park, up the road and round back of Stanford hall and leave it there. At nine o"clock on each morning, walk the 700metres from camp site to your car and move it to show ground. You must stay with it till two O clock, then move it back into show car park, and leave it. I'm presuming at this point you can begin to enjoy the show. Repeat for Sunday. I had intended to attend with wife and my two little dogs in our touring caravan. They now tell me I can bring the dogs in during the day only, but not in"lil possum county" "health and happiness" or high falootin "vip . I could maybe put up with all that, but they now tell me I can not bring the dogs into the camp sites!!!! I have tried to clarify this in case I got something wrong, but they are not returning my emails. Yes, I could put the dogs in kennels for four days, but I am still not sure if I have to, and as I said, they will not return my emails. Not sure where to go from here and if I don"t send details of my MOT and insurance by third of September they will not let me in anyway. Suggestions???
