If you wanted to convert to electric washers, the factory did it by using a different wiper switch which operates the washers by pushing it in. Had to get everything for the Barracuda there wasn't a single part of the washer system on it. Just for reference there is a guy on ebay sells the whole factory package, bottle, jets, hose & fittings.

Hi blue, as it happens the wiper switch does push in. I'm happy with manual washers though mate, or I will be once I've fitted a bag for the fluid. I'll get one off of ebay no doubt. I was surprised it had washers at all to be honest, it is a California car.
Your barracuda is coming on well.

Yep all the wiper switches push in but only the correct one has the necessary contacts, took quite a bit of digging to find that out as all the previous Mopars I've had were fitted with electric washers. My Valiant also had the rubber pump on the floor it being the basest of base models.

yeah that's weird as mine has power brakes, power steering, air con', hazard flashers, the wing top indicator repeaters and all that kind of stuff  .

Well the Signet was the top of the Valiant range but the Valiant was the bottom of the Plymouth line so all costs would be saved to keep the cost down. Things that were standard higher up the line were optional or not available at all on Valiants. It's a shame you couldn't option a 340 in a bare bones 100 model, that would have been a sleeper and a half.....

that would be a cool combo for sure. that 340 would be better than a big block in an a body in my opinion for a good all round car.

great news, my v5c arrived today for the valiant. i'm well chuffed and can't wait to drive it now. i ordered some number plates but can't wait so made some temporary ones for now. i had a bit of ally sheet left from my anglia gasser build so thought that'll do. it's old so the backing won't peel of so had to be scraped off. a bit of sanding and a quick scotchbrite saw the area i needed looking much better. then an offcut of carbon vinyl wrap from work was applied, then some masking tape so i could draw the numbers/letters on. i only measured the widths and height, the rest was freehand as was the cutting out with a one sided razor blade. they look ok in a wonky sort of way but are just fine 'til the new ones arrive. best of all they were free :D i just need to cut them out tomorrow (bit late now for the grinder) and fit them so i can drive it this weekend. woohoo!!!!

i cut and fitted the plates, i'm thinking maybe i didn't need the 'real' ones after all. oh well.....
