When I bought my car it had unbranded 1 3/4" headers with 3" collectors on and there was 2 or 3 good dents in the pipes for clearance. A few years ago I fitted Doug's 2" headers with 3 1/2" collectors and they fitted perfectly with plenty of clearance. I use standard rubber engine mounts with a torque strap. I don't remember setting the engine position perfectly, I just dropped it down on the mounts ant bolted them up. Maybe you're headers are the problem and you are just trying to fudge it so they clear.

Well; I am thinking that sounds likely.
Spent ALL DAY wresting - engine box now in and mated; got one side on but the other was a mile out. There isnt enough wiggle room for the 10mm shims - although it looks like clearance would have been great. So I revert to stock and see where everything is.
These TTis have not been right since day1. Maybe the car IS ok and the headers are not :dontknow:

I've used TTI's before and thought they were very average and didn't fit without some adjustments. Even then they were extremely close, I wouldn't use them again...
