I expect to be opening up a can of worms here and I can't find the question on the forum so apologies if it's been discussed to death

I have been running tubes in the rears of the Dart since getting it, only because the tyres I had said "not tubeless". However, I am getting a new pair of Hoosier 32/14-15 drag slicks soon which has got me thinking about pros and cons between running inner tubes or not.

I have racing inner tubes so to carry on as I have been isn't a problem but I thought I'd just ask here out of interest.

It would appear most don't run tubes after asking around the pairing lanes this year but the reasons seem a little conflicting or confusing with stories of "a mate of a mate that knew a guy once" etc.

Any thoughts, people?

I DONT RUN TUBES The down side is they most always leak some pretty quick so at times have to add air at the track, but no big deal when sat at home up on jack stands so no issue going down,

Always have a compressor with us at the track so that's no bother and we always check pressure when we are past the zebra crossing at Santapod.

Our usual problem is pressure increasing as runs and sunshine warm the air and the tubes keep it in

Yep same they still increase the same so always letting them down, but next day have to top up to start again,

IF you run inner tubes, you MUST use rim screws or you run the risk of tearing the valve off and having a sudden an catastrophic deflation.

Inner tubes seem to work well with heavier cars due to better sidewall support, but in that case you are probably better off running Drag Radials...traditional Slicks are Cross plys....and thin walled as Duncan mentioned.
