That's a shame. Strange, you can understand panel companies not tooling up in the first place for panels with limited demand, but once the tooling's done it's not costing them anything. How have you got over that hurdle, are they available from elsewhere?

Love the way yours has turned out btw, it's a real credit to you.

Thanks Lee it’s been a good few years work. I’ll get my parts man on the case and see what he can find, it’s a pain. Possibly due to ongoing shortages of raw materials they are concentrating on fast moving parts at the moment, not looking good when they don’t even appear on the website now.

Ok so a quick update on progress over the past few months.

When I got the car, it was obvious that there was rust in the C-pillar/roof join area bursting through. I think this must be common with the fastbacks as of the ones I've seen in the flesh, this area often looks to have been filled or have "something going on".

So when the car was going for blasting, the outer skin in this whole area (both sides) was completely removed to allow the bare inner structure to be blasted. It was actually surprisingly sound & didn't need any cutting out. For good measure though (while I was in there) it was well & truly reinforced with thick plate & painted before the outer skin sections were let in.

That’s the join where the roof meets the rear quarter, leaded from the factory. Often looks a bit lumpy when moisture gets under it and it ‘blows’. Very nice repair as usual!

Yes, a very common area for them to go. Like Blue says, lead lined seams go from the inside. Great repair without replacing the panel, wish I’d have had the nuts to have a go at it on my old one! Excellent looking work.

That's exactly what had happened, the rust getting under the lead & pushing it out. I did expect the inner structure to be knackered but it was surprisingly sound. The stresses/flex in that area on the fastback especially must be crazy!
