I was just wondering if anyone had tried or had success with the one piece rear main seal sold by Fast Fish. It’s a circular seal, which you cut through on one side & then work it around crankshaft

Never used one, but in my opinion that seems a ridiculous amount of money for only 1/2 solving a problem..

The best solution is the One piece O rings they have on frauds and Chubbies - or even the conversions - but I have never seen the equivalent for a Mopar, and probably never will due to the size of Crankshaft flange.

It does seem to be a bit of a lottery with the 2 piece seals.

Where would you position the "Split"? On the Block area or on the retainer - as I have seen oil leak from both areas....

i have one from BOP engineering that i intend to try on my motor, just can't face pulling it all to bits again

what diameter is a big block seal surface. can't get that website to work from my work laptop
this sounds better than shortening a pontiac one which was my original plan, and with the inherent risk of puckering as i make a 3 inch seal 2.5 inch

its an experiment that has not happend yet

https://www.bopengineering.com/A_Pontia ... ls_1.shtml

pesterd this fella for years to do a run in 2.5 inch but he won't
pesterd mopar suppliers to have a look at the BOP site and get some made no luck

the split usually goes to the top

obviously same risk of a leak if the seal housing is wonky. but less risk of a problem at the split, blob of sealer or glue at both ends and it get clamped togther in the block by the application of the cap, success dicated by how sharp your razor is and how well you make the cut

I have used the BOP 2 piece main seal instead of the Rope Seal.

:thumbright:

often thought that if the cut lines on a rubber seal were biased in a direction oposite that of rotation we'd be in a better place... but... maybe too much thinking :)
