Diff oil

Morning, Folks

I’m running an Eaton Detroit Truetrac diff. As per the blurb, “Eaton recommends a petroleum/mineral based GL-5 80W90 gear oil for all Truetrac differentials. Do not use Synthetic gear oil or friction modifiers”

My question is, any brands etc to avoid? Internet searching throws up a load of choices, very differing price points. My local Agricultural merchants does the Morris stuff, for example, is it any good / worth the cost saving, or should I go with a “name brand”?

Any advice welcomed. Ta!

I’m sure the Morris stuff will be fine. I use Lucas but that has a friction modifier in it.

i ran morrises engine oil and its SAE 30 non foaming gear oil in my 4 speed for years
then discovred i could get similar spec and price dynalite branded stuff from MOSS europe down the road without the postage and packing
i.e easier if you can just call in and get it when you need it on the way back from work....

it all has to achive SAE and euro standard spec and they are not going to be worried about emissions with a gear oil.
