Remake wiring harness? Good idea or not?

Unless you are going for a concourse Factory accurate Restoration, I would design a Loom form scratch and miss out all the crap fault-prone items in a Standard Loom - Bulkhead Plug, Ammeter, charging circuit, headlight relays for H4 bulbs, etc and design it better with modern products.

It definitely won't be concours Pete although I don't want to stray too far from factory appearance!

How would I improve the charging circuit?

And the hole left by the deleted bulkhead plug? Weld it up and cut a smaller hole for the loom?
The car as still a bare shell at the moment so easy enough to do now!

Matt, there are loads of Threads on the MMA Forum about Charging circuit upgrades, as indeed on the Internet.

The key fix is the removal of the Ammeter (substitute with a Voltmeter in some location) and the original method of supplying power to the entire car (apart from Starter Motor) through one bulkhead spade connector....

that old one looks like its been hacked
not going to be easy

but

if you cable tie it up
remove the wrap
wash the lot in isopropyl alcohol you can probably work out what went where and replace whats been cut/bypassed

however it still may not fit the car if its from a different year or trim level.

This one is from my car as it turns out. It was 2009 when I removed it and chucked it in the loft.

I think I can clean it up as you say and figure it out.

I'll probably do as Pete suggested and design a new one or go the Painless route! Not sure yet!
