Great Ormond Street

Great Ormond Street Hospital is a special place. My son was operated on there when he was 1 and we went back 4 times a year until he was 11 or 12. Their strapline then was "The child first and always" and I saw how staff there lived out that ethos: when we turned up at reception as soon as Josh was old enough to talk the receptionists always spoke to him, not me. He knew there were children in there a lot sicker than him - but there was always dignity and time for us. My 'handle' in the car club is Gas for GOSH because of that....it does a little to raise the profile and is a way into a conversation when someone asks what's that all about. I quietly donate but I am posting this as I promised Jack I would. Jack is a young man from Essex who has been walking around Cornwall 12 hours a day talking to people about the "Build it, beat it" project at GOSH. I told him I would make a special donation and post this. Thank you for explaining what this new build on the top of GOSH will do for children with cancer Jack I didn't know about it.
