Hi all,

Just joined and wanted to say Hi!

I've got a 1983 LeBaron that I'm slowly getting properly sorted - for daily driving once summer arrives...and once the steering/suspension is sorted :working:

Here's a pic taken end of last summer.

Be interested if anyone has seen this car on here before? It was imported into Liverpool in 2020 but I don't know from which US state.

Cheers!

Hi Steve,

It's had a lot of work - my goal is to get it into daily driver territory during the summer. Bit more to do yet. And the goal will be to fix any rust bubbles and get it into good shape for a long life.

The roof has a few holes so they need repairing for now - with a view for a new roof at some point.

A few more pics for you :)

Hope to see you all at a meet this year!

Cheers :)

Forgot to add - the engine is the Mitsubishi 2.6 that Chrysler needed for the front-wheel drive K-body platform. It's the engine that in the UK was in the Galant and Starion, and some fork-lift trucks apparently. :)

Thanks Pete - will do :) The Allpar forum (based in the US) has been really helpful with part numbers and practical advice, but I'm pleased to have found Mopar fans in the UK. I've been feeling like a loner here in Kent!

Cheers :)

Thanks for the photos...she looks very straight and love the interior. A very unusual car and a bit different to the usual cars at the shows. I had no idea they had those engines in. I had a 1999 Galant, the best daily car Ive ever had. Put 100k miles on her and she never missed a beat. I had her serviced every year and in that time, I put a new set of discs and pads on her, one cambelt change and one headlight bulb. 2.0 auto, fantastic car and looked great too.

I almost imported a 1972 Chrysler Imperial Lebaron a few years ago but missed out on it as I was unsure of the import process etc and it was sold before I could sort it out. Was lovely, brown metallic with a tan leather interior, 440, auto, immaculate condition and went for £2500!!!

Please keep us updated with your progress. There are a lot of very experienced and talented Mopar people on here who can help with stuff if you need it.

Cheers Steve :thumbright:

Just to document, for posterity, the history of this LeBaron since I bought it in Feb 2025.
  • Rebuilt windscreen wiper linkages

    4 x new tyres from https://northhantstyres.com/

2 x front shocks and top mounts

2 X Lesjöfors rear coil springs

    Re-cored radiator (done by https://www.kent-rads.co.uk/)

    New rad sensor

Various relays and fixed dodgy fusebox wiring.

    2 X complete CV shafts

Replaced timing and oil pump chains

    New oil pump

    Remanufactured steering rack

NOS air pulse feeder pump (1980s EGR valve)

    New exhaust manifold

    Various pipes and connectors

    New battery and terminal connectors

    New strut-rod / control arm bushings/balljoints

Rear indicators to suit the style of car.

    Various minor cosmetic.
To do:
  • Soft top has some holes

    Driver's seat needs re-stuffing

Driver/passenger seats need inertia locks fixing

New seat belts - very tatty

A better exhaust - someone has put something that 'fits' but it sounds like a Morris Minor.

    Wheel/suspension alignment for camber, etc.

Some preventative rust stuff on doors.
Hoping I'll see some of you at some meets/shows 👍

All the best,
