old fuel

My 69 Barracuda hasn't run for two or three of years, but looking at the fuel filter, the petrol seems slightly yellow and I guess the fuel is pretty old and dirty. The fuel gauge is on half, so that's about 7 gallons. With a pump I could suck all the old fuel out of the tank into a dustbin, say (and replace it with fresh petrol) but what do I do with all that old contaminated fuel? There's no waste space in my garden!!! My local council tip in Surrey doesn't accept old fuel, I'm told. Are there any good ideas out there?

If your local tip wont accept it, try contacting a few local car garages to see if they will take from you, might have to pay though

I'd keep it and use it for cleaning oil and grease off stuff.

Don’t keep it in the dustbin though 😂

Thanks for your replies. It's all sorted now. My nearest garage put me onto Fuel Busters in Kent who then put me onto their local representative Rupert in Surrey. He came over today and sucked the tank dry with his pumps, taking the old fuel away for recycling. (And yes, it definitely smelt old). A chatty guy who gave a discount for cash. So the world is good again!
