MOTOR'S IN!
First i got the rear 6" up on chassis stands.
Then i hooked the motor up on the stand with a ratchet strap around the tail so i could alter the angle of the dangle.
This is where i paused til my able assistant Fil arrived... We cranked it up in the air then nudged it in, letting out the ratchet as we lowered it into the hole. I'd left the wheel under the tailshaft which helped and it slid in nicely until the dissy was almost at the bulkhead and the sump was gonna hit the rack. I unbolted the rack and left it hang and that just let us drop the motor the last couple of inches.
Then we jacked up the front of the car til the chassis was horizontal and liftet the motor and jiggled it until it was dead level, correct height and 1 1/2" right of centre (I'll check that's right tomorrow...)
I butchered my engine trolley for the mounts and used two bits of chunky angle iron levelled with bits of 1/8" plate to support the motor.
I spirit levelled the car front to back and left to right and did the same for the carb plate. It all seems dead right now
The Z-bar even lines up with the access hole in the inner fender!

Oh yeah, have to admit to one ****-up... I sold Anton a remote filter mount a while ago and now i realise i need one- the headers foul the filter
Anyone got a spare one or any other bright ideas?

I'm sure someone was selling a few remote filter mounts a couple of weeks ago in the parts section.

Remote oil filter adapter on it's way, thanks Steve VHValiant
I've just checked the measurements i took when i had the axle made up- drivetrain should be 1.25" offset to the right.

I'm still plotting the motorplate, latest thought (after some experienced advice) is to weld short lengths of tube into the motorplate ends, use two 'L' brackets on each frame rail and Bananarama! with something like this.... Any thoughts?

I was thinking of doing exactly that Paul with my engine plate as it was going to be street and strip, though cruisng around in Blue's Dart, which has a solidly mounted engine plate, if I remember correctly, it was as smooth as you like...

My motor is solid mounted on engine plate and torque straps, and to be honest you couldn't tell even with a lumpy cam
