just got a pair of front wheels for the dart and wondered if i have to use a spacer ring as they dont sit snug over the hub centre-is it dangerous without ?

I my mind it depends on the wheel

mine don't centre due to late aussie ford spigot size but are thick hub alloy wheels

the nuts have a big fat alloy shank below the hex head which fits push tight into the long hole through the wheel

and the hex head has the radius to fit into a dish half way down the hole

so the wheel centres up great no issues no vibration

on the rear i have dust caps that fit in from the rear and take up the slack around the spigot....no good for accurate centering either

but same wheels with same long studs and nuts

not exactly a powerful car but ive had no issues....

i wouldn't be happy running steels like this with the small nuts with a radius into a seat on the wheel but little else they just hold the wheel to the hub they don't do much else

or wheels that have flat nuts and hardened washers that fit into a circular indent around the hole on the wheel

as neither give the wheel stud holes support along the length of the stud like my current set up does

Alloy wheel nuts are usually the sleeve type, with a shank which fits inside the wheel hole to locate the wheel.

which is why i'm not that worried
