Biggest fight was getting the shock tops in and bolted up, what a ballache. Closely followed by trying to get the spring pin to locate in the lower shock mounting bracket. Makes you jump when it finally decides to locate under pressure.

Sure it will be much easier second time around, as most things are, but I really would recommend it being a two man job. A right pain doing it on your own.

Still, it’s done. On to finally measuring for the prop later, so I can start thinking about forward motion again.

Good stuff, it’s as much about technique as anything else.

I start of these jobs in a calm and professional manner ,correct tools ready some nice soft matting on the floor ,it usually finishes with the tool box empty ,every tool i own out on the floor and some gardening tools as well ??? blood oh there is always blood ....but when i have finished a massive feeling of satisfaction overwhelms me ...next day it usually dawns on me its all wrong and i start again ......

Glad it’s not just me.

Been ill for a solid week, finally up to get some work done.

Think I need to add two new front tyres to the list…

if the tyre's not cracked/worn out it probably has corrosion between tyre and rim. the rim needs a good wire brushing and some bead sealer when the tyre's refitted. oh, and always fit a new valve as they crack where they're not real rubber any more.

In the meantime, a job I’ve been wanting to do for ages, I can finally see!

Some eejit had previously cut the cables off the remote mirror, so it didn’t work. The mirror then had no tension, so just flopped about in its casing at will, meaning you had to manually move it back every time you stopped or wanted to see whilst on the move.

Got a spare in reasonable nick from Dunc a while back and another big thanks to Mr P, he prepped and sprayed it for me. Finally got round to fitting it today and it’s cheered me right up.

A simple job, but one that will make a huge difference to enjoying driving it again.

Headers next today, I think.
